Rollon launches H-Bot, a new gantry system with a compact design for high dynamics

Innovation | 22 July 2024

Rollon introduces H-Bot, a gantry system with a compact and highly versatile design, suitable for all applications requiring a small footprint and a high level of efficiency.

22 July 2024. Rollon announces the launch of its new gantry system, H-Bot. Designed to meet the needs of applications requiring a small footprint and a high level of efficiency, H-Bot stands out for its compact and highly versatile design.

The H-Bot system has two fixed motors on the X-axis with a single belt, motorised via pulleys and easily tensioned. This design helps ensure a coordinated and precise movement along the X and Y axes. The option of mounting the motors on either the front or rear heads, upwards or downwards, gives H-Bot extreme versatility. The absence of a motor on the Y-axis significantly reduces moving masses, decreasing vibrations and allowing high dynamics to be achieved. These features make H-Bot a light, compact and efficient solution.

“With the launch of H-Bot, Rollon continues to innovate in the field of linear motion, offering solutions that combine efficiency, precision and flexibility,” says Andrea Tosi, Chief Technology Officer at Rollon. “H-Bot was developed to meet the needs of industries that require high dynamics but, at the same time, extreme precision in movement.”

H-Bot is particularly suitable for handling light loads (up to 10 kg) that require a high level of precision, covering a wide operating area. It finds application in pharmaceuticals, food industry, laboratories, 3D printing and assembly, sorting and transfer processes.

Technical features

H-Bot features aluminium profiles and is available in size 06 (profile section: 64 mm). It features a toothed belt drive system and a guide system with three recirculating ball carriages – one for each of its three actuators, – which are automatically lubricated through an optional cartridge system or can be manually lubricated through grease nipples.

H-Bot offers a maximum stroke of 2500 mm in the X-axis and 1500 mm in the Y-axis, allowing a large working area. The maximum operating speed reaches 5 m/s, with a maximum acceleration of 50 m/s², ensuring high performance and dynamics. Accuracy is enhanced by a repeatability of ±0.1 mm. Mounting is horizontal and allows the Z-axis to be integrated, further increasing the versatility of the system.

It comes with several standard accessories to facilitate assembly, such as:

  • Levelling feet
  • Fixing system
  • Sensors for zeroing
  • Axial interface kits for three gearbox types
  • Automatic lubrication system
  • Cable chain for Z axis

The main advantages of H-Bot

H-Bot is characterised by its ability to sustain high dynamics, thanks to excellent acceleration in both axis directions. Its compact design and available strokes help to ensure coordinated and precise movement. The possibility of versatile motor mounting allows space optimisation, adapting to different application requirements. Thanks to the single-belt design and double motor on the X-axis, no drive shaft is required between the two actuators in X. In addition, the optional automatic cartridge lubrication system helps to ensure minimal maintenance and an extended service life.

H-Bot is an ideal choice for applications requiring precision and reliability in tight spaces. Thanks to its versatile configuration and high performance, H-Bot is perfectly adapted to different operating contexts, offering a complete and advanced solution for modern linear motion requirements.
